Types of Crystals

Rubies, diamonds, topaz, agate and quartz are some of the most precious treasures to be found within our earth. For thousands of years they have been excavated and worn to represent material wealth and spiritual empowerment. As tarot cards, runes etc, stones and crystals have always been involved as excellent tools for magic, psychic powers and healing.
There are hundreds of stones, gems and crystals used and available but the following is an overview of the most commonly available and used crystals and semi-precious stones. Crystals come in all shapes, sizes, paterns and colours. They can be natural crystal, gem stones, tumbled stones or none of the above like a Pearl! Tumbled Stones are simply stones that have been tumbled in water (hence the name).

These are used for enhancing your energies and protection, and for enhancing space in your home and at work including clearing negativity. Deciding what Crystals will work best for you depends mainly on what your needs are and what you want to use them for. Everyone has their own interpretations for each crystal you may find that you do not agree with mine! These interpretations are what I have experienced, so the following is a just a guideline, you will find however that certain interpretations are the same no matter whom the source of information.

I would just like to add that when you go to buy your own crystal, you will at least have an idea of what each one is about and you will also find that your particular crystal will 'call out' to you, you will know the crystal that you will want to buy as you will be drawn to it.

Commonly Used Crystals & What They Do

Right back through history many gems and stones have been used but the main one that stands out from the rest and is readily available today is 'quartz' it is a crystal of great magic, power and energy. The Crystals and Tumbled Stones mentioned below are just a very small fraction of what is available to us in the western world today. Granted, some are harder to acquire and some are more expensive than others, being able to work with and possess your very own crystal that is yours and only yours is truly invaluable.

My personal experiences with the crystals I have worked with, has always been a good experience, never bad. You must be patient and feel the benefits of wearing or carrying your crystal and when you do you will want to try another and another. Sceptics can say 'how can a stone affect you?' but I say, until you've tried using a crystal and realised its benefits, you aren't in a position to comment on their authenticity.

I believe that God put these gems on this earth for us to benefit from the same way as we benefit from the sun, the moon, water, earth, fire and so on. It is up to us to enjoy what mother earth provides for us. Enjoy your crystal, whichever one/s you choose and if you have any further questions that aren't covered here you can email us and we will do our utmost best to answer them for you.

Common Uses

Crystals assist us to focus and improve what we do with our minds, willpower and energies. Energies pulsate through our bodies, crystals work with and influence those energies. In the most general terms, Crystal Healing may be defined as "the use of crystals to stimulate the self-healing mechanisms of the mind, body and spirit". It is naturally related to all other therapies that include the use of crystals
Crystal healing is not a new concept, it has been practised for thousands of years in many different cultures and belief systems but is getting more popular in the western world as are many other alternative therapies and paranormal matters. As well as healing the mind, body and spirit, crystals enhance the atmosphere within the home, creating a sense of well-being, and can also be a good accompaniment to practising feng shui and space clearing rituals.

Ways of Using Crystals

1. Wearing crystals
2. Carrying crystals
3. Placing crystals in your home
4. Placing crystals on the body
5. Placing crystals under your pillow or next to your bed
6. Meditating with crystals
7. Scrying (crystal ball gazing)
8. Using crystals when massaging (place crystals at key points on or near the body) see Chakras page

Crystals can be programmed for a specific use. Most of the coloured crystals already have their specific uses as you will discover from my guide on crystals and you can use them for what they are meant for. Therefore they are already programmed. The best crystal to programme and probably to start with as a novice is the clear quartz crystal. Here is a list of things you can programme your crystal to work on. If you have the intent, the crystal will work with what you have intended it to do.

  • Self healing

  • Angelic contact, personal health, stress relief, inner serenity & tranquillity

  • Absent healing

  • Love and harmony, scrying (crystal-gazing), improving your home and/or work environments

  • Healing others

  • Protection, manifestation, past-life recollection

  • Meditation

  • Dream interpretation, vitality & energising, grounding

If you are not sure what your crystal is capable of doing or programmed to do, have a look at my guide on some common crystals or ask at the shop where you bought your crystal, they should be able to help you with your enquiries. If you still want more information or cant get help from anywhere else on a specific crystal, I will do my utmost best to answer any problems or information you may need.
